If you’re looking for a simple, one-skillet meal (I love using my cast iron skillet for this one), it is hard to beat ground beef hash. This is one of my favorite go-to meals when I need something quick and easy. It requires very few ingredients, and I almost always have them all in my kitchen already.
Simple Ingredients
All you need for this simple dish is potatoes, onions, ground beef, salt, pepper, and beef base (optional). If you don’t have the beef base, you can substitute with some bouillon, or simply skip this step altogether. I prefer to use the Better than Bouillon brand beef base. It just makes the dish a little richer but isn’t necessary; even without it, the hash will be excellent.
Versatile
I normally make this for a quick dinner, but if you have leftovers, it makes a perfect breakfast addition. Fry it up in a skillet and serve alongside some eggs and toast, or just reheat and eat. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
And it’s so versatile. Don’t be afraid to change it up a little. My husband loves it with some corn cooked into it. I’ve even seen people add green beans or cheese. I love to pair my hash with some fresh-baked biscuits, and occasionally I’ll make cornbread instead.
No matter how you choose to serve it up, this is soon to become a new family favorite. You’ll love the simplicity and versatility of this simple ground beef hash.
